Now remember I had dug up about five potatoes a few weeks before to see how they were doing. Since then we have been digging a couple up every other day or so for dinner. Now we have decided to go ahead and dig the rest up and see the entire batch. We didn’t plant a huge crop this time but we did get a lot more in return than what we originally planted.
Here are some pictures…
The rings we grew them in were cut from food grade barrels…
The one on the right is shown just after removing the ring to harvest the potatoes…

Can you see the potatoes sticking out of the dirt?

So there you have it. Now that we believe we have it down pretty well with the soil mixture etc… next year we plan to plant lots more and hopefully do even better.
That was one ring and looks like there might be enough for a chicken pot pie. Did the other rings of potatoes do as well? Glad you were able to enjoy those garden potatoes with a hot meal. Best of luck next year.

Nice haul! ♡Purple Potatoes♡ Any purple veggies really. A few years back I was able to score purple cauliflower, bell peppers, beans, fingerling & sweet potatoes from a farmers market – mind freakin’ blown! 😍

Yes all but one ring did alright. One ring only had a couple in it because the soil didn’t get enough sand in the mix. Guess when mixing we must have missed a clump or two of dirt which hardened and made for tough soil and poor drainage. But the other 3 rings did nicely.

Not bad at all! Next year will be even better now that you have the sand/dirt ratio down!

Thanks. I think a tad bit more sand and a little better drainage and we will have perfection.
