I live recently moved back on grid due to illness. My hobbies are outdoor survival skills and backpacking. I hike all over the USA. I worked for many years in EMS and the Medical field. I hold a BS degree in Community Health Education and a second BS degree in Outdoor Recreation Leadership & Management. I was a Combat Medic in the Army and a certified Medical Specialist. I am now retired and live freely in Michigan with my wife in our new home. The rest you can learn about through our blogs to which we hope you enjoy... View all posts by FixedByDoc

Wait till you learn about bump keys. You will never trust ANY lock that takes a key ever again. I have a video coming soon on how to pick police issued handcuffs.

Only if you want the owner to know you were there right away. Now consider this, this way causes ZERO damage to the lock and it can be REPLACED without the owner ever knowing you were there. Now if you were smart, you do not trash anything and are very careful about moving stuff and going through things. You only take something if it is worth it to you. Leave everything the way you left it. Once you are gone the owner has no idea you were ever there and thus DOES NOT call the cops. Chances are later maybe days or weeks or even months later they might think they just misplaced the items somewhere. By the time they realized they might have been stolen it is way to late. BUT if you used that drill idea of yours then not only are you out $20 but also the owner knows instantly that they were robbed! A soda can is free out of any gutter on the side of the road basically. This method is just as fast if you pre-cut the shims before heading out.
