This is what I am taking with me on my hike between April 2nd-May 19th. During May 19th-21st I will be at trail days in Damascus Va. with Addie who will bring me my summer gear that I am switching out with then. That gear I will do a blog about then.

Here is the intro video…

This is my backpack…

It is made by Granite Gear and is their 85ltr Nimbus Trace Access model

My side waist pouch holds my journal, knife, bandana, wallet, snacks, and rain cover for pouch…

The top (brain cap) holds my water filter, tablet, body powder, electronics and miscellaneous stuff…

My electronic stuff includes: Nextbook tablet + keyboard, 20K battery bank, charging cables, flashlights, AC plug, blue tooth ear piece, & SD card reader…

My water filter kit is a mix of brands. Basically though I use a Platypus bag as a gravity feed to a Sawyer mini filter…

The top side pouches carry toilet paper and shovel on one side and my maps on the other…

Inside the main pack 🙂

Rain gear is Frog-togs pants & jacket (will switch to poncho in summer) and I have Outdoor Research gaiters…

Clothing… I am taking a down vest, down sleeves, beanie cap, thin gloves, & thin layer long johns for winter clothes. For regular outfit I have pants that zip off to shorts, 2 pairs of wool socks, underwear, & a long sleeve shirt… This is in addition to the outfit I am wearing of course.

I have a Tek Towel for drying stuff off and a sponge wrapped in a sham-wow cloth as a washcloth…

My shelter setup. ENO tarp, ENO hammock, Jacks-R-Better down quilts, and various accessories… I have another blog that details this setup if you want to know more about it 🙂

My mess kit can cook basically everything I can dream up. It contains 2 Vargo pots, one GSI mug, Vargo alcohol stove, Snow Peak Ti spork & a Thai spoon, spacer ring, thermometer, P90 can opener, flint wheel, MSR pot lifter & scrubber, aluminum wind shield, fire starter, a cheese grater 🙂 , & a flame deflector…

A floor mat for under hammock and a seat cushion…

First Aid Kit / Gear Repair Kit: Your usual band-aids, gauze pads & some burn gel. I added a ACE wrap. It also has a tic remover, cloth tape for blisters, screw driver and spare screws for glasses, clippers, pick, tooth fixer, mirror, duct tape, safety pins, tweezers, compass, shrink tube, sewing needle & thread, condoms (many uses besides sex)

My homemade journal… I keep stuff written in here that I need instant access to or need to record quickly. Stuff like phone numbers, directions, addresses, times, places, people, and other important info… When I have time and power I then transfer it to my tablet.

My food is the heaviest part of my gear. It weighs as much as everything else combined 😦

Here is a video of the food I am starting out with…

So that is basically it for my winter pack out… Just toss in my camera and trekking poles and that’s everything 🙂
