Addie accidentally ran over our mailbox the other day while trying to get me to the hospital for a severe migraine that had me down and out. She backed into it coming out of the driveway.
So now that it has been a few days since then and I have recovered, I had to remake our mailbox post.
Here are a series of pictures and explanations of what I did:
Our poor mailbox attacked for nothing…
Using the post hole diggers to clear out the remaining post and debris…
I used a tree log left over from our firewood supply to make the new post with…
Using my trucks tailgate as a table I get my draw knife and start debarking the new post…
Now I grab some cement mix and a bit of water. I add some mix to the bottom of the hole then the post and some water. Then fill the post halfway with more mix and again add some more water. Then repeat again filling the hole with post in it.
I also use a fence post 4×4 to tamp down the mixture to help press out any trapped air spaces and secure the post as I go…
I toss back on the dirt and the post is all set to go…
The old box support was well old so figured I would replace it as well with some new weather treated 2×6…
Add the mailbox and viola we can once again receive mail…
Lets not forget those solar powered off grid christmas lights…
And here it is at night all lit up π
Thanks for stopping by π
Too cool! I haven’t seen any solar Christmas lights here yet. Can’t wait until we can get some!
