Winter is so loud but quiet at same time. It seems like the snow dampens the high pitched sounds but amplifies the low rumbling sounds. It’s like a constant thump thump static rumble of heavy base from a distant rap song that just keeps pounding. It actually starts to hurt my brain after awhile.

I understand it’s from the combined noise of engines warming up and snowblowers doing their snow blowing and plows clearing the streets among other things. All part of the Upper Peninsula experience. But it really stresses me out and drives my Parkinson’s disease anxiety up and is a real migraine inducer…

I got these off internet a couple years ago. They are called DUBS and reduce background rumbling noise and make things quieter. They were $20 at the time. Not to be used as ear plugs or protection though. They seem to work when you remember you have them…
