About a month and a half ago, somebody sent me a picture of a painted rock snake project that was being done in other communities. They asked if I could start one here. So I put a post on the community Facebook pages asking if there would be an interest. Hundreds of people said it was a great idea!
So I finally got some time to do it. I pulled out some scrap wood from my stash and got to work. I cut, sanded, burnt, and built a sign for our rock snake to be easily located. A friend suggested we name our snake after the community; Sawyer the Rock Snake.

Addie took her time to nicely paint both the sign and the snake head after I assembled the sign. I think they turned out awesome.

Within the first 12 hours, our snake grew to be 6 feet in length. After 36 hours, it was 11 feet and still growing strong! One community member has hopes it will reach 40 feet.
Jordan Russel, local community garden director, set up a rock painting table at her recent gardening event and plans to feed several of their rocks to Sawyer the Rock Snake soon.

This is a great community project because you don’t need any skills and any age group can participate! I suggest every community start one.
You can even set it up for the kids to win prizes, but that is another story for another time.
