What is the Sawyer Summer Sizzle you ask?

Well a few people asked me if I could host a craft fair so I started there and added a few fun things. The Gwinn Lions Club, in which my wife Adda and I are members of, sponsored this event and provided much help.

I tracked down several craft vendors. All types of stuff. There were around 20 vendors and one food truck.

In addition to the crafters, I also setup a bunch of games for the kids and adults got to play also. There was Nerf gun target shooting, coin toss, tug-a-war, two bounce houses, The Great Sawyer Crock Race, and more. But, the biggest attraction was my new foam generating machine. The kids and adults spent a lot of time playing in the foam. The event included a soccer camp and baseball camp. Riding horses were planned but the weather and other issues prevented them from coming.

It was a very sunny day with temperatures in the mid 90’s which is very hot for us in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Wind was pretty strong too. The wind destroyed 4 of my pop up 10×10 canopies. There was also a low attendance from the community due to the heat. But it’s ok, this was the first of its kind for Sawyer. Next year will be better. It takes time for these new events to gain traction.

There were lots of prizes for the kids to win. I did not charge the vendors in any way nor the customers. The children also played for free. This was a free event for everyone involved. The vendors got to keep 100% of what they made.

I’m hoping to raise $350 to get this for future events…

I look forward to throwing this event again next year. See you there 🙂
