About 3yrs ago I wrote a review of the Camppal 1 person tent. I took it with me on my bicycle trip from Oregon to Virginia on my TransAmerica trip.

Positives: It did very well. It was long enough to sleep comfortably. I’m 6ft 1in. It never leaked during rain storms. It was compact and fit nicely in my gear packs. And it was quick to setup.

Negatives: It was not tall enough to sit up in. Had to hunch over some. Not great if you are waiting out a storm or getting dressed. Setup requires use of stakes, so you have to set up on grass/dirt, etc. Unlike freestanding tents.

The quality is great and I still have it. Though I have a new setup I will be trying out next spring. But that’s another blog. See blog “Trike Shelter Setup”.

I got run over by a semi on this trip at the halfway point in Colorado. Destroyed everything except sleeping bag and this tent. Everything else was basically completely destroyed. I shattered my left arm and dislocated my left knee. So had to quit that trip. However, I did pick up where I left off the following year with my wife and a couple of friends. That blog post can be found on my website using bike accident for keywords search.

Hope this review update helps out Tom and others.
