We started off this morning in Chanute, Kansas and had a 30-somthing mile day in mind. We wanted to ease back into our long days after having some time off because of the weather.

We did that-arriving in Walnut, Kansas-and then decided that we could go even further. So we planned for another 17 miles and aimed for Girard, Kansas.

On our way to Girard, we saw a few crayfish. But we couldn’t decide if they wanted to attack us or hitch a ride!

The weather today wasn’t great, but it could have been a lot worse. In fact, the weather had encouraged us to go another 14 miles after arriving in Girard Kansas. It rained off and on all day, but we stayed warm enough while pedaling.

After leaving Girard, the sun came out and we had these weird, flat cyclist following us all the way to Pittsburg, Kansas.

Since we all were pretty wet, we got a hotel room to help dry off tonight and be well-rested for our ride tomorrow. We couldn’t bring the bikes into our room, like we usually do, but the front desk let us lock them up in an unused corner by their lobby.
