Holly and I went backpacking on a 42-mile trip through Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

The first night we stayed at Masse Homestead.

We made pizza from scratch.

Then hiked up to see the dunes, and got a good view of our setup.

Got up at 4 in the morning to pack up and eat before a rain storm that was supposed to come. Luckily it didn’t, but being that we were the first ones on the trail, I collected all of the spider webs.

We played with my fireside story dice each night. It is 12, 6-sided dice each side with a different picture on it. You shake them up and roll them out. Taking turns, you choose a die and make a few sentences about it to create a short story. We had a lot of fun making up adventures for poor Artuin the turtle.

We hiked 12 miles on our second day. Took us about 6 hours of hiking and an hour for lunch. On our third morning, we got up and expected to see a storm but nothing happened.

During our last two days, the wind was very strong. Strong enough to pick up the sand and drop it on us from above, like rain! But the views were nice and the waves were big enough for bodyboarding.
