The past going on 6yrs I have been organizing community events that became annual. Some going on 5 years now.

-The Haunted Trail -Senior Santa -Christmas Families -Cardboard Sled Race -March Musical Snow Stomp -Easter Egg-stravaganza

This year was not looking to good for the cardboard sled race due to lack of snow. I wanted to make sure something happened soon for the community to do in case we had to cancel the sled race.

So I organized our first community wide all ages Valentines Party. Several residents helped in acquiring craft supplies, food, prizes, face painting, book mobile, pinata, and more. There were prizes to win such as family board games, stuffed animals, child safe dart boards, several cakes and a light up hoverboard.

Lots of people showed with their kids. I think we had around 120-150 participants.

K.I. Sawyer Elementary School hosted the event. Shannon Greathouse brought tons of good food. Cheyenne Williams & Josh Jacobs helped decorate. Rachael Joe Campbell did face painting. Missy Derby set up her book mobile. Kendra Mattson, Tom & Pat Lamon, Gordon Hendrickson, and a few parents helped run the games and Valentine crafts for the kids. Funding ($1,000) came from a grant I received from the Community Foundation of Marquette County.

Everyone seemed to have fun. Many asked me to make it one of the annual events.

I also had a special guest wonder around as well…

If anyone would like to donate towards these events the community would greatly appreciate it. You can make your donation out to “Sawyer Community Enrichment”. Or contact me, Ryan Lipinski, founder of Sawyer Community Enrichment, through this site or Facebook Messenger.
