I got a hotel room just outside of Munising. I didn’t expect to run into a friend there but happy I did because she kept a close eye on my trike overnight.

The next morning I entered the Seney stretch, also known as US Bike Route 35. While riding my trike legally on the right side of the lane I got pulled over lol. Somebody called in and said I was obstructing traffic because I was riding in the street. The cop was polite, but didn’t know the law. I very politely explained it to him, and he took my license and ran my name and asked dispatch. While he was doing that I pulled up the laws on cycling in michigan, to show him. He conceded and asked me if I could just ride on the gravel shoulder, I told him no. I’m not gonna destroy my ten thousand dollar bike riding it on gravel, which it is not designed for. Not to mention, it was also a national bike route. US Bike Route 35. The law says you are to treat bicycles as if they are motor vehicles and the both of you have to follow the same rules/laws.

At some point I got another hotel room, but I don’t remember where that was. I think it was in Newberry.

The next day I ended up doing 118 miles. All the campgrounds seem to have people there with RV’S and tents, but no people anywhere that I could see. So I kept pedaling along to the end of Michigan 28. I went to see the locks. My planned route was obstructed with a downed bridge. So I took side roads to get to St. Ignace from there.

When I finally got to St. Ignace I found that all the hotels were full of construction workers who are repairing the bridge and other roadside facilities. Although I did finally find one with a room. The guy was really nice at 3am in the morning. I wanted to do a night ride at some point on this trip. But I didn’t expect it to be so soon. However, it was quite fun. The hotel clerk gave me an extra hour or so to sleep cause I got in so late.

The US Bike route 35 connected with US Bike route 10 on US 2. I had Addie bring me out some warmer clothing because I wasn’t expecting it to be in the 40*f at night.

I spent the rest of the trip on US Bike route 10, US 2. I made it to Manistique before a large thunder/lightening storm rolled in. Checking the weather for the rest of the trip, it turned out that it was going to rain and thunder all week long pretty much. I called Addie. She came back out and picked me up, and by the time we got home, the weather in Gwinn was nice.

After our family reunion next week I will finish the rest where I left off.

Thanks for following along.
